FB Ketju launched the first Zero Steel conveyor chains made from SSAB Zero™ steel on Tuesday, March 10, at the Underhållsmässan event in Sweden. The steel developed by SSAB for use in chains does not generate any fossil carbon dioxide emissions. FB Ketju has already incorporated the steel into its production and it is available to all customers.

FB Ketju’s proprietary FB1000 steel has been upgraded to be even more durable through cooperation with Ovako AB. The renewed premium-grade material offers improved wear resistance, longer lifetime and clear savings in customer’ total life-cycle costs.

Environmental threats have become increasingly immediate, with more tangible effects. ECOSAVING, developed by FB Kedjor AB, combines corporate environmental responsibility with economic benefits. The solution helps to cut emissions and consumption while improving cost efficiency.

At FB Ketju, sustainability and sustainable development are not side issues but an essential part of everyday operations. According to Chief Financial Officer and management team member Johanna Alho, the emission calculations carried out by Joonas Huhtanen for his master’s thesis have provided valuable insights for daily decision-making.

In spring 2023, the company launched SSAB Zero™, a steel made from recycled materials using fossil-free energy. Production of fossil-free steel has also begun, demonstrating the technology’s viability, with pilot batches delivered to strategic partners since 2022.
