Latest Investment Ensures Consistent Quality and Boosts Productivity
FB Ketju’s latest equipment investment, a collaborative welding robot (cobot), is driving production efficiency and elevating welding quality. The cobot serves as an "extra pair of hands" for manual welders during component and accessory welding. While the cobot still relies on a human operator to change the workpieces, it significantly boosts efficiency by welding one component while the operator prepares the next.
One of the greatest advantages of robotics over manual welding is the consistent, uninterrupted quality — a level of precision that is impossible for a human to maintain continuously throughout an eight-hour shift. Thanks to the cobot, welding cycle times have decreased and overall productivity has improved. Welding small batches, such as minor quantities of connecting links, is now much more cost-effective, as the cobot’s setup times are substantially shorter than those required for a large robotic welding line.
What makes this cobot exceptional is its mobility. The robot is mounted on a mobile, wheeled table, making it easy to move from one manual welding station to another. It also eliminates the need for heavy, external safety fencing, as it features built-in safety limits and sensors.
Based on its first couple of weeks in operation, the new investment has already proven its worth and established its place in production.
