Drop forged conveyor chains are widely used in bulk material handling of products such as grain, coal and ash. Also known as drop forged scraper chains they are typically fitted with flights or special attachments. The chain links themselves are forged from specially selected alloy steel and then precision machined to close tolerances.
When you require continuous flow (en-masse or drag conveying) and the material is being moved slowly within the casing, then a drop forged conveyor chain with attachments matched to the materials being moved will be a good option.
Shown below are some of the most common styles of attachments that we fit to FB drop forged conveyor chain. In addition to these standard types of attachment we are also able to manufacture special flights in different materials that are suitable for almost any design.
Square Bar Flights
This is used for the grain and feed industries. Horizontal machines. Used mainly for en-masse conveying
Flat Bar Flights
This is the most popular type of flight. It is used in all industries depending on the thickness of the flights. May be used on inclined conveyors up to 20 deg. Can be used for en-masse or drag conveying
Similar to flat bar flight. Used a lot in drag conveying i.e. cement, wood chips, coal, aggregates etc.
Used for en-masse conveying. Mainly for grain conveyor, feed conveyor and woodchip conveyor applications. May be used on inclines up to 30 deg.
Closed U Flights
Used only for en-masse conveying. Mainly for grain conveyors, feed conveyors and woodchip conveyor applications. May be used on inclines up to 60 deg
Closed U Flights with Filler Plates
Used in similar applications to closed U flight, but preferred if product is more ‘sluggish’ and difficult to handle
Used only for en-masse conveying. Mainly for grain, feed and woodchip applications. Can be used on inclines up to 90 deg
OO Flights with Filler Plates
Only for en-masse conveying and used in similar applications to 00 flight , but preferred if product is more ‘sluggish’ and difficult to handle.
Return Cup Flights
Used on an intermediate basis with standard flat bar flights to carry back any product that may cause build up inside a conveyor.
